Nursing Department Supervisor

Job purpose

Responsible for day-to-day supervision of a 10-15 member nursing staff (RNs & LPNs) responsible for 24/7 medical monitoring and support of male and female adults suffering from substance use disorders. Responsible for maintaining the highest quality nursing practices and performance standards in an inpatient, residential treatment facility.

Duties and responsibilities

The Nursing Supervisor’s duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Direct and manage nursing staff work schedule.
  • Direct and participate in new hire recruitment and selection.
  • Responsible for maintaining highest quality nursing practices and performance.
  • Manage and organize current nurse trainings as well as new hire orientation.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards for the nursing department.
  • Serve as initial contact for all nursing staff regarding scheduling, staffing, patient care or organizational issues, reporting directly to the Medical Director.
  • Serve as initial contact for client complaints or questions regarding medical care or services or nursing staff.
  • Assist and collaborate with the Admissions, Utilization Review and Nursing Departments on intake, assessment and pre-certification practices.
  • Coordinate and communicate with nursing staff to ensure daily operations run smoothly.
  • Interact on a continuous basis with other departments such as the counseling staff, administrative staff, and physicians to promote the coordination of client care.
  • Ensure timely and complete documentation of treatment services through regular review of charts and records and reports findings to the Medical Director.
  • Assist the Medical Director, when necessary, in the monitoring of program services.
  • Attend all coordination of care meetings.
  • Monitor confidentiality procedures regarding all client care information to assure client rights are protected
  • Support other departments with administrative tasks as required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year
